Law360, New York (October 11, 2012, 6:29 PM ET) -- Australia’s antitrust regulator said Thursday that it will oppose a proposed merger between the owners of the country's most popular free-to-air television network and a premium sports network over fears the pairing will chill competition in the free-to-air television market.
The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission said it will not allow Seven Group Holdings Ltd., which owns a piece of Australia’s free-to-air channel Seven Network, to take full ownership of Consolidated Media Holdings Ltd., which has a significant stake in Fox Sports Australia.
