Law360, New York (October 26, 2012, 5:58 PM ET) -- The U.S. Department of Justice pushed a federal judge Thursday to fine Florida West International Airways Inc. at least $1 million after it pled no contest to air cargo price-fixing charges, but the airline countered that the penalty would amount to three years' worth of profits.
Federal prosecutors recommended that Florida West pay a "substantial" criminal penalty over a five-year probation period despite the company's claims of financial hardship. The $1 million requested, however, is a fraction of the fine range based on the federal sentencing...
