Law360, New York (February 11, 2013, 5:30 PM ET) -- Bazaarvoice Inc. on Thursday defended its $168.2 million acquisition of rival PowerReviews Inc., warning that the U.S. Department of Justice's suit to unwind the deal underestimated how many other services compete with its online product ratings platform.
The DOJ sued to block the deal in early January, accusing the company of trying to stamp out competition. But in a joint case management plan filed Thursday, Bazaarvoice argued that the DOJ had defined the market too narrowly without considering the varying demands of different customers.
