EU Sets Hearings In Rambus Patent Ambush Case

Law360, New York (December 03, 2007, 12:00 AM ET) -- The European Commission will reportedly hold hearings on Tuesday and Wednesday regarding allegations that semiconductor company Rambus Inc. withheld information regarding its patents in order to charge competitors high royalties once standards utilizing the patents were implemented.

An EC hearing officer will hold closed-door hearings on the allegations this week, Reuters reported on Monday. The officer, who will not have the power to make a ruling in the case, will send a recommendation based on the hearing to Competition Commissioner Neelie Kroes.
