Sanofi Illegally Blocked Inspectors During Raid: EC

Law360, New York (June 02, 2008, 12:00 AM ET) -- The European Commission kicked off a formal investigation on Monday into whether French pharmaceutical giant Sanofi-Aventis SA illegally blocked inspectors during an unannounced raid that was part of a sectorwide inquiry.

Commission inspectors and French competition authorities visited the Sanofi-Aventis headquarters in France between Jan. 15 and Jan. 18 as part of a series of unannounced searches the EC carried out when it launched its competition inquiry into the pharmaceutical industry.
