Law360, New York (July 01, 2008, 12:00 AM ET) -- The European Commission has adopted a set of guidelines on how to apply its antitrust laws to the maritime shipping industry nearly two years after it decided to lift an exemption that allowed shipping companies to form cartels.
The commission announced on Tuesday that beginning in October, when the exemption for shipping companies expires, shipping companies will be responsible for monitoring their own compliance with European antitrust laws.
