Dawn Raid Targets Gas Cos. In Five E.U. Nations

Law360, New York (May 17, 2006, 12:00 AM ET) -- Continuing its crackdown on anti-competitive activity in the European energy market, the European Commission this week raided gas companies in five member states over concerns of abusive market position and restrictive business practices.

The Commission did not specify which companies had been targeted in the dawn raid, but named Germany, Italy, France, Belgium and Austria as the countries involved in the unannounced inspections.
