Universal Faces Antitrust Suit Over Sales Contract

Law360, New York (October 16, 2008, 12:00 AM ET) -- Universal Studios Home Entertainment LLC and several subsidiaries have been hit with a lawsuit accusing them of blocking competition and misusing their copyrights by requiring an automated DVD kiosk operator to sign a revenue-sharing agreement.

Redbox Automated Retail LLC lodged the suit against Universal and its City Studios and Focus Features divisions on Oct. 10 in the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware, claiming that Universal's proposed revenue-sharing agreement would severely limit its movie selection, increase prices and reduce consumer choice in the marketplace....
