JFTC To Charge Steel Cos. For Price-Fixing

Law360, New York (November 07, 2008, 12:00 AM ET) -- In Japan's ongoing competition battle with steel companies, the country's antitrust authorities are reportedly planning to charge three national manufacturers — including Nippon Steel & Sumikin Coated Sheet Corp. — for allegedly fixing the prices of galvanized steel sheets.

Japan's Fair Trade Commission will file a criminal complaint against the companies as soon as next week, Jiji Press reported Friday citing unnamed sources.

In addition to Nippon, the JFTC will also include Tokyo-based Nisshin Steel Co. and Osaka-based Yodogawa Steel Works Ltd. in the charges over...
