Consumer Reporting Co. Sued For Antitrust Violations

Law360, New York (August 02, 2006, 12:00 AM ET) -- Credit reporting agency CBC Companies Inc. is alleging in an antitrust lawsuit filed Monday that Equifax Inc., a company that collects credit reporting data, used its monopoly power to force CBC to purchase unnecessary consumer credit reports.

The Ohio-based CBC, or Credit Bureau of Columbus, filed the suit this week in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio, charging Georgia-based Equifax with engaging in a series of actions that constitute illegal tying, restraints on trade, and monopolization of the credit reporting market....
