Amgen Settles Ky. Medicaid Fraud Suit For $2.4M

Law360, New York (March 11, 2009, 12:00 AM ET) -- Amgen Inc. has reached a $2.4 million dollar settlement with the Kentucky attorney general, putting to rest charges that the pharmaceutical company inflated the average wholesale prices of prescription drugs causing the state's Medicaid program to overpay for medications.

Kentucky Attorney General Jack Conway announced the settlement Wednesday. The lawsuit, filed in Franklin County Circuit Court, alleged that Amgen, along with 47 other pharmaceutical companies, knowingly defrauded the Kentucky Medicaid program and violated the state’s consumer protection laws by artificially boosting the reported average wholesale prices...
