Wal-Mart To Pay $40M To End Mass. Wage Action

Law360, New York (December 03, 2009, 4:00 PM ET) -- Wal-Mart Stores Inc. has resolved a long-running wage-and-hour class action by agreeing to pay $40 million to 87,500 workers at its Massachusetts stores who accused the discount retailer of refusing them breaks and requiring them to work off the clock.

Attorneys filed affidavits in support of the agreement on Wednesday in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Superior Court, touting the value of what they said is the largest wage-and-hour class action settlement in Massachusetts history.
