House Bill Aims To Reward Family-Friendly Workplaces

Law360, New York (March 18, 2010, 1:06 PM ET) -- Reps. Lynn Woolsey, D-Calif., and George Miller, D-Calif., are trying to encourage employers to adopt more family-friendly policies by creating a federal recognition program for workplaces that help employees achieve what the lawmakers call a healthy work-life balance.

Miller and Woolsey on Wednesday introduced H.R. 4855, the Work-Life Balance Award Act of 2010, which would establish an annual “Work-Life Balance Award” through the U.S. Department of Labor that gives special recognition to companies with exemplary work-life policies.
