OSHA's Worker Safety Crackdown Takes Shape

Law360, New York (April 28, 2010, 2:54 PM ET) -- The Occupational Safety and Health Administration's promise last week to ramp up civil penalties against offending companies is evidence that talk of a more aggressive federal workplace safety regulator is more than just hot air, attorneys say.

The increased penalties, coupled with new enforcement rules to tackle severe job safety violators, underscores the need for employers to take worker safety seriously and to have a game plan for when OSHA inspectors come knocking, they say.
