Law360, New York (February 17, 2011, 5:00 PM ET) -- A new bill introduced in the Illinois House of Representatives would require every employer in the state to enroll in the U.S. government’s controversial E-Verify program and check the immigration and work eligibility status of new hires.
The bill, unveiled Wednesday by Republican State Reps. Adam Brown and Bill Mitchell, would amend the Illinois Right to Privacy in the Workplace Act, compelling all employers to implement and participate in the program, which is operated by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
