Calif. Appeals Court Backs $5M Verizon OT Settlement

Law360, New York (July 22, 2011, 1:44 PM ET) -- A California state appeals court on Thursday upheld a $5 million settlement of a wage-and-hour class action against Verizon Wireless, overruling objections raised by a potential class member who said the deal could affect another lawsuit's claims.

The appeals court nixed objections raised by Saul Deleon, disagreeing that the settlement's release of claims approved by class representatives Dane Garnica and Wendy Johnston as well as by Verizon would improperly also cancel out class action claims Deleon is pursuing in a separate case in  Los Angeles court....
