Law360, New York (May 25, 2012, 6:22 PM ET) -- The New Jersey Assembly on Thursday voted to raise the state's minimum wage to $8.50 per hour, the third highest in the nation, over protests that the increase would put local businesses at a competitive disadvantage and muddle economic recovery efforts.
Democratic lawmakers, progressive groups and other advocates of the bill — which also calls for annual adjustments based on the Consumer Price Index — counter that the wage hike would boost the state's economy by putting more money into the pockets of working families....
