Law360, New York (August 29, 2012, 5:27 PM ET) -- The California State Legislature approved legislation Monday that urges the federal government to include the rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer individuals in federal anti-discrimination laws alongside traits like race, color, sex, national origin, disability, age and religion.
"The Legislature calls upon Congress and the president of the United States to pass legislation to expressly include sexual orientation and gender identity in all laws of the United States created to end discrimination in this country," the bill said.
