Staten Island DA Gets OK To Probe Albany Sex Scandal

Law360, New York (September 07, 2012, 6:35 PM ET) -- A judge on Friday cleared Staten Island prosecutor Dan Donovan to probe allegations that $103,000 in public money was used to secretly settle sexual harassment claims by two women against Brooklyn Assemblyman Vito Lopez, a move that puts Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver's approval of the settlement in prosecutors' sights.

New York City Administrative Judge Fern A. Fisher's order capped a week in which pressure mounted on Lopez, who denies allegations that he sexually harassed women, to resign.
