Law360, New York (October 18, 2007, 12:00 AM ET) -- New York recently enacted a statute requiring employers to allow women break time, and make reasonable efforts to provide them a private location, so they can express breast milk for their nursing children while at work.
This statute follows similar legislation passed in at least 13 other states within the past decade. Like many such laws, some key provisions of the New York statute are ambiguous and open to varying interpretations.
