Firing Of Worker Who Posted 911 Call Info On Facebook OK'd

Law360, New York (February 01, 2013, 3:45 PM ET) -- A New York state appeals court on Tuesday upheld the New York City Fire Department's decision to fire a lieutenant for posting on Facebook a photo of a computer screen containing confidential information about a 911 caller's complaint of a gynecological emergency.

The appeals court concluded that given former emergency medical services supervisor and lieutenant Michael Palleschi's admission that he had posted the picture to Facebook, “the penalty imposed does not shock our sense of fairness.”
