Shutdown Prompts UTC To Furlough Aerospace Workers

Law360, New York (October 03, 2013, 4:22 PM ET) -- A unit of United Technologies Corp. will furlough about 2,000 employees on Monday if U.S. lawmakers fail to end the government shutdown, the defense manufacturer announced Wednesday, saying business can't continue without the help of the U.S. Department of Defense.

Sikorsky Aircraft Corp., which produces Blackhawk and Seahawk helicopters for the U.S military, cannot continue production without the inspections regularly performed by the DOD's Defense Contract Management Agency, UTC said.
