Cleaning Co. Ends Class Action With $7.5M Settlement

Law360, Washington (November 27, 2013, 7:11 PM ET) -- A Massachusetts federal judge on Tuesday approved a $7.5 million settlement in a class action accusing office cleaning company CleanNet USA Inc. of misclassifying “franchisee” employees as independent contractors in order to push franchisee fees and other costs on them.

The settlement, approved by U.S. District Judge John Tauro, follows five years of litigation in state and federal court, according to court records. The settlement includes a provision awarding $2.5 million for attorneys' fees.
