DOL To Focus On Problem Of Misclassified Workers

Law360, New York (March 07, 2008, 12:00 AM ET) -- The U.S. Department of Labor has targeted employers who misclassify their workers as independent contractors as one of its top five enforcement priorities this year, according to the former administrator of the DOL's wage-and-hour division.

The DOL will particularly scrutinize low-wage industries such as construction, janitorial, hotel and motel workers and day labor, said Paul DeCamp, who left the Labor Department and became a partner at Jackson Lewis LLP earlier this year.
