Judge Explains Denial Of Wal-Mart's Post-Trial Motions

Law360, New York (September 04, 2008, 12:00 AM ET) -- A Pennsylvania judge said Wednesday that a state appeals court should affirm a $187 million award for Wal-Mart Stores Inc. employees who were allegedly forced to work off the clock and skip rest and meal breaks.

Judge Mark Bernstein of the Philadelphia Common Pleas Court rejected Wal-Mart's post-verdict motions last November. However, he did not issue a memorandum opinion explaining his denial until this week, according to Michael D. Donovan, the principal of Donovan Searles LLC who is representing the plaintiffs in the case.
