Best Buy Faces Renewed Race, Sex Bias Claims

Law360, New York (January 08, 2009, 12:00 AM ET) -- Current and former employees of Best Buy Co. Inc. have launched an amended complaint in a proposed class action accusing the national retail electronics chain of operating in a corporate culture of racial and gender stereotypes.

While Best Buy provides “modern, high-technology” products to its customers, its treatment of women and minority employees and job applicants remains “outdated and obsolete,” the plaintiffs said in court documents filed Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California.
