Bill Could Open Floodgates For Equal Pay Claims

Law360, New York (April 14, 2009, 12:00 AM ET) -- The Paycheck Fairness Act – currently in the U.S. Senate, after having passed the U.S. House of Representatives along with the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act in January – will likely lead to a surge in Equal Pay Act litigation if it becomes law, attorneys say.

The bill would amend the Equal Pay Act to allow for compensatory and punitive damages and opt-out class actions.
