Law360, New York (April 29, 2009, 12:00 AM ET) -- Reps. Carol Shea-Porter, D-N.H., and Carolyn B. Maloney, D-N.Y., have put forth two bills in the U.S. House of Representatives to expand the Family and Medical Leave Act, with one bill pushing to extend the benefit to same-sex couples and the other aiming to repeal restrictive rules enacted during the Bush administration.
Shea-Porter on Wednesday introduced H.R. 2161, the Family and Medical Leave Restoration Act, to repeal Bush-era FMLA rules, including removing a regulation allowing employers to contact their workers' physicians.
