Law360, New York (June 19, 2009, 12:00 AM ET) -- The U.S. has filed a criminal complaint against Exxon Mobil Corp., charging the petroleum giant with killing migratory owls and other birds in three Kansas counties as part of what officials called a broad investigation.
The misdemeanor complaint, filed Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Kansas, charges the company with knowingly and unlawfully killing at least seven birds of indeterminate species and three owls in violation of federal law.
