Senators Grill NRC Officials Over Tritium Leak Scare

Law360, New York (May 05, 2010, 1:30 PM ET) -- In the wake of recent revelations that some nuclear power plants in the U.S. have been leaking low levels of the hydrogen isotope tritium, lawmakers on Wednesday questioned members of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission on ways to improve safety.

Speaking before an oversight hearing of the U.S. Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works' clean air and nuclear safety subcommittee, the five members of the NRC defended their agency and suggested continued improvements could make nuclear power safer.
