Chevron Asks To Intervene In BP MDL Enviro Case

Law360, New York (August 27, 2010, 1:23 PM ET) -- Chevron USA Inc. has asked a court to allow it to join four oil industry groups as an intervenor defendant in a suit lodged by environmental organizations accusing the U.S. of illegally waiving safety regulations for offshore drilling in the Gulf of Mexico.

In a motion filed Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana, Chevron said it had the right to intervene because the outcome of the case would affect numerous deepwater drilling leases the company holds in the Gulf....
