EU Kills Antitrust Probe Of GDF Suez Unit's Contracts

Law360, New York (February 04, 2011, 3:35 PM ET) -- The European Union's competition watchdog has closed its antitrust proceedings against GDF Suez SA subsidiary Electrabel SA following a formal probe into whether the company used long-term supply contracts to keep potential competitors from breaking into Belgium's electricity market.

The European Commission announced in a statement Thursday that, based on the results of the probe, it would be closing the proceedings it launched against the French company's unit in July 2007.
