Jeff Bingaman, D-N.M., chairman of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, said Tuesday that he hoped the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission acts quickly in weighing the adequacy of safety precautions for U.S. nuclear reactors in light of the post-tsunami nuclear emergency in Japan.
