Marathon Triumphs In $97M Gas Contract Suit

Law360, New York (March 28, 2011, 6:24 PM ET) -- Marathon Oil Co. won summary judgment Friday in a lumber company's $96.6 million breach of contract suit in West Virginia that accused the energy giant of reneging on a Marcellus Shale lease deal.

Despite Allegheny Wood Products Inc.'s arguments to the contrary, no jury could find that it and Marathon had any kind of contract in place, Judge Irene M. Keeley of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of West Virginia ruled, closing the door on the case.
