Law360, New York (May 02, 2011, 7:03 PM ET) -- The U.S. could eventually use remote monitoring to improve the regulation of offshore oil and gas rigs, the head of the federal Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Regulation and Enforcement said Monday.
Speaking during the 2011 Offshore Technology Conference in Houston, BOEMRE Director Michael R. Bromwich said officials within the U.S. Department of the Interior were examining the feasibility of remotely monitoring certain activities on rigs using offshore monitoring facilities and control centers.
