Law360, New York (June 22, 2011, 8:43 PM ET) -- Ecuadorean plaintiffs who won an $18 billion judgment against Chevron Corp. asked the Second Circuit on Tuesday to stay a scheduled New York trial on the quality of that country's legal system, saying that case was premature.
The 18-year-old legal battle should play out in Ecuador's appeals courts before a Manhattan court rules on whether the country's lower courts acted fairly when they ruled for the plaintiffs, according to the plaintiffs' emergency motion.
