Law360, New York (July 25, 2011, 4:13 PM ET) -- A special panel created by Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Corbett proposed Friday to tighten regulations on natural gas drilling while creating economic incentives for new gas production in Pennsylvania’s portion of the Marcellus Shale.
The Marcellus Shale Advisory Commission outlined nearly 100 unanimously adopted recommendations in its new report on developing the purportedly massive natural gas resources that lie under the state’s soil. The 137-page report is the culmination of four months of work that involved industry representatives, government officials, environmental groups and the public.
