Law360, New York (June 21, 2007, 12:00 AM ET) -- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency on Thursday proposed strengthening the country's air quality standards for ground-level ozone, a move that rankled some business and industry groups.
The proposal, which the agency will be taking public comments on for the next couple of months, would change the standard for ground-level ozone from 80 parts per billion to 70-75 parts per billion. The current standard was established in 1997, and opposition groups will likely maintain that it should remain at that level.
