Rentech, US Settle Dispute Over Plant Emissions, Permits

Law360, New York (December 05, 2011, 5:02 PM ET) -- Rentech Energy Midwest Corp. agreed Friday to pay $108,000 in civil penalties and adopt new compliance measures to settle the federal government's claims that a nitric acid plant the company operates in northern Illinois violated a range of federal air quality and permitting requirements.

In a consent decree lodged alongside a complaint in federal court, REMC agreed to abide by new nitrogen oxide limits at the plant, establish an emissions monitoring system and conduct performance testing.
