Arbitrators Tell Ecuador To Stop $18B Chevron Judgment

Law360, New York (February 17, 2012, 2:26 PM ET) -- An international arbitration panel on Thursday issued an interim order blocking all branches of Ecuador's government from enforcing an $18 billion judgment against Chevron Corp. in a bitter fight over pollution in the Amazon rain forest.

A tribunal administered by the Permanent Court of Arbitration at The Hague ruled that Ecuador's judicial, legislative and executive branches should take "all measures necessary" to suspend enforcement of the judgment within the country as well as outside its borders.
