Judge Blocks GOP, Industry From Defending Pa. Drilling Law

Law360, New York (April 25, 2012, 3:05 PM ET) -- The gas drilling industry and high-level Republican legislators in Pennsylvania cannot intervene in a lawsuit challenging a recent state law that restricts municipalities' power to regulate oil and gas development, a Pennsylvania judge ruled Friday.

Judge Keith Quigley shot down requests from the Marcellus Shale Coalition, the president pro tempore of the state senate, the speaker of the Pennsylvania House and others to intervene in the lawsuit, brought by seven Pennsylvania towns and the Delaware Riverkeeper Network.
