Enviros Try To Take Down Army Corps Coal Mining Permit

Law360, New York (May 30, 2012, 5:23 PM ET) -- The Sierra Club and other environmental groups lodged their most recent complaint Wednesday in a lengthy fight against the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers over a West Virginia mountaintop coal mining permit, arguing the government is violating federal standards by allowing pollution of local waters.

In a fifth supplemental complaint, the environmental groups accuse the Corps of illegally reinstating and modifying a permit allowing mining company Loadout LLC to dump fill material in more than 11,000 feet of streams in the state's Fork Creek Watershed....
