Lawmakers Blast EPA For Slow Cleanup Of Sites

Law360, New York (September 14, 2007, 12:00 AM ET) -- The national program aimed at cleaning up the country's most polluted sites is seriously underfunded and the government agency charged with running it has only tried to hide these shortages, lawmakers charged Wednesday.

Rep. John Dingell (D-Mich.), chair of the House of Representatives Committee on Energy and Commerce, on Sept. 12 chastised President George W. Bush's funding cuts and a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency study justifying the cleanup slowdown at sites designated to the National Priorities List.
