Law360, New York (June 22, 2012, 8:54 PM ET) -- The U.S. Department of Justice on Friday urged the D.C. Circuit not to force regulators to review plans for the Yucca Mountain nuclear waste repository, saying such an order would be futile because there is no money for the project.
The government, writing in an amicus brief requested by the court, said the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission has only $10 million at its disposal for proceedings on Yucca, and that much of it would be exhausted re-establishing a required information base for hearings.
