Law360, New York (July 19, 2012, 5:13 PM ET) -- The U.S. Bureau of Ocean Energy Management and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission on Thursday unveiled revised guidelines for potential marine hydrokinetic projects, which generate energy from the force of ocean currents, on the Outer Continental Shelf.
The agencies claim the revised guidelines — which replace those issued in 2009 by BOEM’s predecessor, the Minerals Management Service and FERC — will improve the process in which the agencies authorize marine hydrokinetic research and testing activities.
