Chevron Sues Calif. County Over Refinery's Property Taxes

Law360, New York (October 03, 2012, 5:00 PM ET) -- Chevron Corp. sued the California county of Contra Costa and its property assessment office in state court Monday over taxes assessed on its refinery, as county and city officials investigate and deal with the aftermath of a recent fire at the site.

The suit, filed in Superior Court, is an appeal of its 2007-09 property tax assessments for the Richmond, Calif., refinery, one of three sets of assessments in which the company is currently in mediation talks with the county, according to Chevron.
