Law360, New York (October 11, 2012, 6:28 PM ET) -- The U.S. Coast Guard said it was ready to hold BP PLC and Transocean Ltd. liable for an oil sheen that appeared off the Louisiana coast last month and was revealed Wednesday to contain oil connected to the Deepwater Horizon disaster.
In a notice of federal interest, the Coast Guard’s Federal On-Scene Coordinator for the Deepwater Horizon oil spill told the companies that laboratory test results showed that the sheen “correlates to oil that originated from BP’s Macondo well.”
