Law360, New York (October 12, 2012, 5:02 PM ET) -- The Nuclear Regulatory Commission on Friday announced it would step up oversight of Duke Energy Corp.’s Catawba nuclear power plant in South Carolina, following an April incident that caused the temporary loss of offsite power at the plant.
According to the commission, the April 4 incident, involving two units at the York, S.C.-based Catawba plant, had occurred as a result of an incorrect modification to a generator protective relay. A “white” finding for the plant’s Unit 1 means it will be subject to additional NRC inspections,...
