Enviros Ask Pa. Gov. To End Delays On Fracking Water Notices

Law360, Philadelphia (October 23, 2012, 4:10 PM ET) -- Fourteen environmental groups asked Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Corbett in a letter sent Monday to reverse a new policy that delays public announcement of water contamination incidents connected to drilling in the state’s Marcellus Shale.

The groups contend that the new procedures, which require Department of Environmental Protection field offices to advise senior officials in the department before they can notify the public, will increase the level of risk borne by the public.
