KBR Gets Nod To Arbitrate $257M Halliburton Tax Fight

Law360, New York (October 23, 2012, 10:26 PM ET) -- KBR Inc. has persuaded a Texas state judge to allow it to arbitrate a $257 million tax dispute with its former parent Halliburton Co. stemming from their 2007 split, Halliburton said in regulatory filings Tuesday.

Judge Josefina Muniz Rendon granted KBR's motion in September to arbitrate according to the parties' master separation agreement, which requires a panel of arbitrators, and denied Halliburton's bid to instead arbitrate the case with an independent accounting firm as per their tax sharing agreement, according to Halliburton's third-quarter earnings results filed...
